Theater Festival (KCACTF) is a national theater program involving 18,000
students from colleges and universities nationwide which has served as a
catalyst in improving the quality of College Theater in the United States.
The KCACTF honors excellence of
overall production and offers student artist’s individual recognition through
awards and scholarships in playwriting, acting, criticism, directing, and
design.
The Misanthrope ran the end of April and received great reviews including
great commendations from the BMCC president & Speech & Communications
Deputy Chair Sandra S. Poster who
had this to say to Director Alkis
Papoutsis:
“My congratulations to your cast and crew for the wonderful production of

delight -- funny, clever, original and wonderfully entertaining. You lit
up the night! You bring honor to the department and the college.”

The Kennedy Center representative
that came to our show said he was overwhelmed with the display of talent and it
was hard to choose. We may be a community college in NYC but trust; we can roll
with the big boys. Our nominations are proof in the pudding! To be one of the
shows even to be considered is an honor and having some of the cast shows that
BMCC theatre department is doing something right! This makes me so proud to be
a soon to be BMCC alumni
